The NHRA tour returned to the Valley of the Coyotes this weekend just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. It was the second race of the 2002 campaign and it turned out to be the second career win for John Walker here at GoFantasyDragRacing.com

While Del Worsham, Tony Schumacher, and Bruce Allen were scoring victories in the desert, John Walker took a bite out of the competition with 692 GoFDR points. His winning team included the 50-point pre-qualifying bonus and two out of the three winners! Only Worsham was missing from his list (he went with Forcey taking his 100th instead).

Walker is now a two-time champion at GoFDR, having won at the Colonel's Truck Parts Nationals at Brainerd, Minnesota in 2001. He wasn't the only veteran to score a top five finish, however. Gnawing on his tail was two-time winner Joe Wingate, who fought for a very close 2nd place--just two points behind. Joining them was John Ward, last week's winner, in 3rd. Ken Dahl and John Grissom rounded out the top-five.

Our seasoned pros may have devoured the top three spots at the Checker Schuck's Kragen Nationals, but if you listen closely you can hear a voracious pack of headstrong rookies threatening to steal their den! In fact, 5 of the top-10 this week are new players for the 2002 season.

Another interesting note would be the return to victory lane by top fuel driver Tony Schumacher. Like an old dog learning new tricks, Schu regained his position on the porch with the big dogs. It was his first win since the 2000 U.S. Nationals and he dragged 8 out of our top 10 team owners out of the front yard with him. Congratulations to those who predicted that Tony would be left standing when the dust cleared.
