Rookie GoFDR Player Tony Love Dusts The Competition
April 16, 2002

The racing at the 15th annual O'Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston, Texas was unpredictable to say the least. With top qualifiers in several classes failing to reach the final round, it didn't take a high number to score a top-25 finish here at GoFDR. But to beat this week's winner, Tony Love, it would have taken a miracle!

Love, of Corinth, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, absolutely dusted his competition this weekend. He scored a grand total of 705 points, 87 points higher than second place competitor Ken Dahl of Seattle, Washington! Veterans John Grissom and Shirley Dionne finished third and fourth respectively, while another rookie player, Dave Ballinger, came home in fifth.

Tony's first victory here was impressive to say the least, brought to light by the unpredictable turn of events in both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bikes -- where the four fastest qualifiers in both classes failed to make the finals. Then in Top Fuel, there was the early departure of #1 qualifier Doug Kalitta, and the early demise of Larry Dixon -- who has won three and runner-upped once in the last four races this year.

The above turn of events threw most of our GoFDR competitors into a tire-spin right off the line. This weekend's races might have been our lowest scoring game ever, if not for the 705-point shellacking that Tony Love put on the rest of the GoFDR field.

Love is a rookie competitor in our game, our first rookie to score a victory in our 2002 season! His 87-point margin of victory was the biggest blowout ever in the history of our game.

How did he do it on such a haphazard weekend of racing? Well, Tony pulled out all the stops and chose eight teams for this event. HE WAS DETERMINED to win! Four of the eight placed in the top-25. His strategy was to try to cover as many bases as possible -- and his winning team hit a home run! His 705-point final tally was the highest of the season so far, and we would like to congratulate him on his hard-earned victory.

Tony's strategy this weekend just proves that playing multiple teams can work to your advantage here at GoFDR -- particularly when the NHRA delivers unusual results!

We are off this weekend, but will return for back-to-back races on April 26-28 at Bristol and on May 2-5 at Atlanta. Be sure to mark your calendars and join in the fun here at GoFantasyDragRacing.com!
