John Walker snakes lion's share of Brainerd purse money
August 20th, 2001
While Larry Dixon and Ron Capps were bringing home dual titles for racing legend Don "The Snake" Prudhomme, John Walker of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania put a stranglehold on the competition and slithered off with a GoFDR title of his own. Walker scored a record 646 points by predicting three out of the four class winners, with Capps being the only driver to take home a trophy who wasn't featured in his winning team.
"I have been close before," Walker said when asked if he came into the weekend expecting to do well. "I just needed that lucky break all of us racers need."
John's success didn't stop at first place however. He bought three teams this week, scoring 1st, 4th and 9th in the Colonel's Truck Accessories Nationals. Walker's foresight into the weekend's events at Brainerd earned him a grand total of $400.00 from GoFantasyDragRacing.com!
Where will his prize money go?
"Play GoFantasyDragRacing some more," he says. "And buy a Bruce Allen, Larry Dixon and Antron Brown T-Shirt since they all helped me win!"
Joining Walker in the big money were Mike English of Wildomar, CA, who won $200 for taking 2nd place, and Gary Talbott of McMinnville, TN won $150 for securing the 3rd and 5th place positions.
In it's second race of this season, GoFDR had 13 different players pick a total of 27 teams. That means all but two team selections made their money back or more! With odds like that, one has to wonder why more people aren't investing a little money to join in the fun here at GoFDR! Where else can you spend $10 for a weekend of fun with a chance at winning hundreds?
This week's winner serves as a perfect testimonial for what we are providing here at GoFDR. "I used to race cars and now I am a spectator," Walker told us. "This gives me a chance to compete again. It makes watching the races much more exciting."
The next race on the schedule is the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park, August 29th through September 3rd. Be sure to join us for that race, and don't forget to tell all your friends about the fun you are having here, playing hardcore fantasy drag racing at GoFantasyDragRacing.com!
GoFantasy Motorsports would like to send a special "get well soon" to top fuel driver John Smith, who suffered a few broken bones after his crash with Gary Scelzi this weekend. We hope to see you back at the track soon, John!
