Veteran Allen Smith records second win of the year at O'Reilly Fall Nationals
October 15th, 2002

It was a seasoned veteran who stepped to the front of the line at the O'Reilly Fall Nationals in Dallas, TX this weekend. GoFDR player Allen Smith has been with us since the beginning and chalked up his second win of the 2002 season.

Smith tallied up 657 points in route to the win while second place Dave Bell was nipping at his heels with 655. Bell, another of the rookie contingent, is also a past winner here at GoFDR. Rookie Bob Campbell took third place, his second 3rd place finish of the year. Veteran Jay Cason took 4th, his 6th top-ten finish in a row!

Congratulations go out to all the top money winners this week, particularly Justin League who scored a fifth place finish in only his second race at GoFDR. Way to go guys!

The final eliminations started pretty much as expected until the second round began delivering a series of upsets. First John Force, Tony Pedregon, and Whit Bazemore all fell by the wayside in Funny Car. Then Pro Stock pilots Brad Jeter and Greg Anderson tasted defeat. Finally, the highest toll came in Top Fuel where Andrew Cowin, Doug Herbert, Larry Dixon and Darrell Russell were knocked from competition by slower qualifiers.

This made the race very unpredictable. Those players who opted to take advantage of the 50-point Pre-Qualifying Bonus were able to recover from this mass of upsets, claiming seven of the top eight spots.

It just goes to show, there is more than one way to win here at GoFantasyDragRacing.com!
